Alongside classical virtues such as courage, composure and wisdom, Stoic philosophy is above all about understanding joy as an inner & outer space of resonance. About the courage to seek depth of focus and more lightness through joie de vivre.
In life there is slow and fast joy, quiet and loud happiness, and all kinds of joy and happiness are important for life satisfaction. True contentment and joy only grow from inner depth.
For me, happiness and joy depend on mood, and are a matter of attitude. It is therefore best when inner and outer mood hacks come together. When mindset & body, philosophy & senses, mind & everyday life meet in a loving exchange and honest dialogue.
"Joy is a human's passage from a lesser to a greater perfection." (Baruch de Spinoza)
When I was asked in a workshop on "Meaning & Purpose" what really matters to me, it came down to these two words: give joy!
I find an important guideline in a sentence by the philosopher Baruch de Spinoza: "Joy is a human's passage from a lesser to a greater perfection."
With this basic conviction, Baruch de Spinoza (1632-1677) revolutionized the thinking of his time. The Amsterdam philosopher sketches a picture of human existence in which a reason-guided maximization of the zest for life is the true goal of knowledge.
That is a high ideal, but it also shows how important mood hacks, acceptance, practice and lightness are for our happiness in life.
"The most certain sign of wisdom is continued cheerfulness."
(Michel de Montaigne)
My approach: with the tools of philosophy and psychology, I want to deepen and expand the human space of resonance. Thoughts & ideas inspire courage, and encourage us to deepen our own abundance and to fill the depth that arises from it.
Because joy from the depths is the most beautiful and the most lasting. To realize this ideal, we need a new and better understanding of the opposites within us. Among other things, it is about discovering calm in movement and movement in calm.
Lasting joy needs emotion-based reflection, experience-oriented action and lots of practice. The goal is to be able to experience joy and happiness in all their facets. My favorite moodsprays are therefore Harmony, Ease and Joy.
And now, from me too, lots of joy to you.
Yours, Jörg
